I’m Victoria – Tory to my friends, and Tony to people who misread my email signature.

Who am I?

I’m a self-published author, writing romantic novels with a fairytale theme as Victoria Leybourne. You can find out more about my books at VictoriaLeybourne.com.

I live in the UK. When I’m not writing you’ll usually find me belting out Disney songs into a long-suffering hairbrush, attempting to befriend every cat within a five-mile radius, or, of course, reading. Whatever I’m doing, though, there’s a good chance I’ll get distracted from it before too long – I was recently diagnosed with ADHD.

What is this place?

I’ve wanted to be a professional author for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been working towards that goal for about four years now. I used to have another blog where I wrote a lot of very long posts about how badly it was going, often illustrated with My Little Pony gifs. But I keep reading that professional authors need a professional blog, so I decided it was time to make one. As you can see, it’s very professional.

As for my writing career, I suppose I’d say I’m semi-professional at the moment, in that I make money from writing but still very much require my part-time job to feed my expensive food and accommodation habits.

If I’m honest, I’m not where I hoped I’d be by now. I have, however, squirreled away more knowledge about writing and publishing than you can comfortably shake a stick at – or store in one squirrelly little brain. That’s why I’ve decided to store it here instead, in the hope of helping other people to avoid a few of my many mistakes.

Ultimately, I’d like some of my posts here to form an easy-to-follow guide to getting started in self-publishing, but there are plenty of other topics I’d like to cover too.
